What’s New at Mont SUTTON in 2019

Let’s take a moment to remember everything new at Mont SUTTON since the opening on November 24…did you know about these?

More improvement to the snow making system

Again this year, with the support of the Ministry of tourism of Quebec, nearly $1.5 million has been invested in a new Bison Winch Tower and improvements to the snowmaking systems. Not to mention millions of dollars that have been invested recently: new touring trails, new grooming equipment, snowmaking, magic carpet for the school slope, Wintersteiger precision robot for sharpening your skis and more.

Snow towers have also been added in the Miracle and the Alleghanys, which allow for more productive and higher quality snowmaking. The winch tower provides access to steeper terrain. This equipment will allow the resort’s teams to get more trails ready to open earlier in the beginning of the season.

What’s New at the Rental Shop

Our rental fleet has also been entirely renewed in partnership with Atomic for skis and ski boots and with K2 for snowboards and snowboard boots. In addition to being brand new, our rental equipment is high end for better performance and comfort, from our carefully selected Marker helmets to our carbon fibre ski poles! Did you see? They are branded SUTTON!

Don’t forget that our Rental service is a one-stop shop for your equipment, ski ticket and ski lessons! We offer ski, snowboard, telemark, snowscoot, yooner and touring rentals. The space has also been reorganized to provide an even more user-friendly experience.

Boutique Expérience SUTTON

Our boutique is now more specialized than ever, with even more hybrid touring equipment that makes climbing easier without compromising on the descent. New skis, helmets and apparel… Several new brands: Picture, Orage, DPS, Stöckli, Eisbar – a must-see! Boutique Expérience SUTTON’s vast inventory and new stock are carefully selected to meet your every need on the slopes. Take a look at the manager’s picks.

A New Sculpture at the Mountain

A new sculpture will watch over skiers this season, the “Snow-Creating Eagle” by Carole Lebel, a local artist.

The new sculpture is located in the St-Bernard, near tower 6 on chairlift I. In total, there are seven sculptures to discover in the mountain, each crafted by artists from the area: a family of porcupines, a baby black bear,   a great grey owl and a pileated woodpecker. Other sculptures are in the works thanks to the work of Les Arts à la Montagne, the non-profit organization that oversees this outdoor museum and that is hosting a benefit concert on January 26.

Aside from this new sculpture, each sculpture’s location is marked on the trail map. Go out on a treasure hunt as a family for hours of fun!

Snow School

The Snow School now offers an adult class adapted to family life: the class schedule is easy to combine with the children’s classes: classes start after the children’s classes and end before the children’s classes. The groups are composed of three adults per instructor. Also, a new flexible schedule is offered for Club 50+ Tuesdays, Suits and Ties Wednesdays and Divas on Skis Thursdays. The Three-Peat Experience, which includes equipment rental, a ski lesson and lift access for three separate visits, now also includes a combination package for ski tickets and equipment rental. The ratios for some children’s groups (9 weeks or every 2nd Saturday) have also been entirely revised to allow for a maximum of four children per instructor to allow even faster skill building. The Snow School is constantly reviewing its methods to allow for an even more enjoyable evolution! Details: montsutton.com/snow-school

Gourmet and Healthy Dining Options

The kitchen offers new and tasty options on its menu. You will find delicious new poke bowls and a few reinvented classics such as a grilled cheese made with Quebec cheese and a choice of fillings as well as a selection of new toppings for your poutine including smoked meat and pulled pork. Stay tuned, new salads and healthy dishes will be announced along with the daily specials… Eating at the mountain also means treating yourself to something healthy!

Bar Le Tucker

Wednesday Karaoke, Open Mic Thursdays and Live Music Fridays are back at Bar Le Tucker! Two new bands, Red Cat and Bergevin, have been added to the bar’s lineup for the season. Take a look at the full schedule to make sure you don’t miss out! And of course, your favourites will also be coming back: Madmoiselle, Mannis, Danika and Mec Trio!

A new selection of local wines, a new après-ski menu, promotions and contests almost every week are waiting for you! Come and check it out!

We would also like to remind you that our bar has a sports bar permit and that children are welcome!

In a Nutshell…

The mountain has invested millions of dollars over the last few years, namely in snowmaking, infrastructure, services… and that is far from over! The management team is working on a strategic development plan for the next 15-20 years with consulting firms. Not only is their objective to improve the overall skiing experience but their vision is to turn Mont SUTTON into a four-season destination that offers experiences as unique as its skiing experience and a development plan that is totally in line with its DNA and environmental values!

Until the mountain unveils its strategic plan, stay informed to keep on top of announcements and new activities for this season! If you haven’t already, sign up to the Mont SUTTON e-newsletter and make sure to like the Mont SUTTON Facebook page!
