Surround yourself with nature and spend a night right at the top of Mont SUTTON. Choose between a night stay in a tent, in a shelter or in a dormitory at chalet alt. 840 m. Wake up with a striking view on the beauty of the Eastern Townships landscape and enjoy a hike on Mont SUTTON’s ski trails or on Parc Sutton’s hiking trails.
Campsites, shelters and dormitories are at the summit, alt. 840 m, at about 1:30 of uphill walking distance from the main chalet (alt. 400 m) and about one hour of uphill walking distance from Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton’s reception (alt. 520 m). The sites are only accessible by foot.
Seventeen campground sites are available close to Mont SUTTON’s highest chalet (alt. 840 m). The sites all have a view and are at a reasonable distance so you can have intimacy. Sites can accommodate 1 to 3 tents (the price presented is for 1 tent only per site, there is an extra fee for each additional tent – up to a maximum of 3 tents and 6 persons in total for some specific sites). Tent(s) not included, bring your own tent(s). The sites are only accessible by foot (1 to 1.5 hour of uphill walking distance).
- Sites 3, 7, 11, 15, 16 and 17 : 1 tent maximum
- Sites 12 and 13 : 1 to 2 tents (with extra fee for the second tent)
- Sites 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 14 : 1 to 3 tents (with extra fee for the second and third tents)
No need to set the tent! Two shelters are available for you if you don’t want to bring your tent all the way to the top. They can accommodate up to 6 people for the night. The shelters, built on a wooden platform, have three closed sides. One shelter is close to the Exil ski trail and the other one is close to the chalet. The shelters are only accessible by foot (1 to 1.5 hour of uphill walking distance).
- Shelter 1: at 5 min from Chalet Alt. 840 m
- Shelter 2: closest to the chalet
DORMITORIES AT CHALET ALT. 840 M
In the fall and summer, Mont SUTTON’s alt. 840 m chalet becomes a hikers’ dorm (not offered for the 2020 season due to the current COVID-19 health crisis). There are beds that can accommodate a maximum of 20 people. There’s also a shared kitchen to let you cook simple meals. The kitchen is all-equipped (including dishes, utensils, stove, fridge and freezer). The dorm is only accessible by foot (1 to 1.5 hour of uphill walking distance).
ACCESS AND ARRIVAL AT THE CAMPING SITE
You can park your car in the Mont SUTTON P2C, P3A, P3B or P5C parkings. Plan an hour and a half walk from Mont SUTTON’s main chalet Alt.400 (P2 or P3 parkings) or 1 hour walk from the Parc d’Environnement Naturel de Sutton ticket booth (Alt.520 / P5C parking).
Is this your first visit? We recommend that you arrive before 4:30 pm to make your ascent in daylight and to get recommendations or directions if necessary. Head to the Boutique Expérience SUTTON located at 671 rue Maple or to the reception desk of the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton at 900 chemin Réal.
To get to the campground :
- From altitude 400 m, start in front of the Boutique Expérience SUTTON and follow the signs to the campground.
- From altitude 520 m, follow signs to Lac Spruce all the way to Lac Spruce, then follow signs towards Round Top until junction 775, then follow signs towards Mohawk until the next junction (830) and then make the final climb in the ski trail to the campground.

The toilets and the panoramic gallery of chalet alt. 840 m are accessible at all times by all users.
Drinkable water is carried up each week by chairlift. It is accessible to all in containers stored at the entrance of the chalet. Thank you for not wasting any of it, it is limited and it requires efforts to bring it to the summit.
The community campfires and community BBQ are close to the chalet and are the only places where you are allowed to light a fire. The guardian is responsible for the wood stock. He respects the SOPFEU grade. Take a look on the SOPFEU‘s intensity map before your visit.
On-leash dogs are allowed on campsites and in the shelters. However, out of respect for users of the chalet, we ask you not to enter it with your dog.
Thank you for not feeding wild animals, for their well-being and your safety!
