Sutton en Blues 20th edition marked 20 years of dedication from Jean Sicotte

By  - Published on

The 20th edition of Sutton en Blues, the 3rd one at Mont SUTTON, ended last Saturday with an electrifying performance of the Ben Racine Band and a very great news: We’re coming back next fall for a 21st edition!

The devotion of kind-hearted man

The evening marking 20 years of Blues in the area also highlighted 20 years of dedication from Jean Sicotte, Productions Kazou owner, who initiated the series in 2002 at the Auberge des Appalaches, supported by Daniel Martin and Micheline Côté, holders at the time.

This passionate music lover believed in the artists and dared to invite them here, with the ambitious project of creating an unmissable annual musical event where more than 150 guests would attend each night! Risky bet at first, it certainly is the high quality of Mr. Sicotte’s artistic direction that brought the event to this level of quality. If the series changed over the years, it’s touching to see the loyalty and the undeniable enthusiasm of the population about it.

After a short presentation by Daniel Martin, Jean-Michel Ryan, president and general manager of Mont SUTTON, offered a gift and a thank you card from everyone to Jean Sicotte. A thought that touched the key player.

Incredible artists at the center of this success

If the opening show of October 15th had to be cancelled – and we hope that it will only be a postponement to welcome Breen Leboeuf in Sutton! – four exciting shows of a high quality took place on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., from October 22 to November 12.

Great Canadian Blues talents, in the pure tradition of the style or with Jazz, Folk and even Soul sounds, followed one another for the greatest pleasure of the public present on the different nights. We can only thank Sandra Bouza, Michael Jerome Browne & Harrison Kennedy, Angelique Francis and the Ben Racine Band for their generosity, the crowd having been captivated each time.

A winning 20th edition!

The greatest novelty of 2022 was without a doubt the tempting offer of a three-course meal offered alone or in combo with the show, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Bar Le Tucker.  An exceptional Cajun menu to immerse everybody in a typical New Orleans experience representative of the musical genre honored. Seating was extremely limited each night and it was an undeniable success! We applaud our chef Sébastien Lemieux who created an all-star menu that we already hope to bring back next year!

Furthermore, thank you to the faithful public who answered the call of the Blues at Mont SUTTON during these four weeks. Evenings that will surely be memorable and remain engraved in everyone’s mind. We are already looking forward to announce the artists for the 2023 edition and we invite you to stay tuned to get your passes as soon as possible!
