Through the eyes of the intern
Another week rimes with new articles from the series Through the eyes of… launched as part of our recruitment campaign at Mont SUTTON. This time we present you a position that has a high but voluntary turnover rate within the administrative office. Every new academic semester, fall, winter & summer, a student from the University of Sherbrooke in administration or in communication from the COOP program joins the Mont SUTTON’s marketing team as an intern for a period of three months.
Here is a typical day at work for Chloé Richer, a student in marketing and communication, who is currently at her first internship.
A typical day doesn’t exist
When Chloé sets foot in the office, her day rarely resembles the day before. The pace is fast and the tasks keep on coming: “That’s what I like about my internship. Since we’re a small team, I’m always in the heat of the moment.” She normally sails between writing blog posts, preparing newsletters, managing social media, doing marketing analysis, creating visuals, updating the website and more. Her tasks are interspersed with team meetings and spontaneous discussions with her colleagues. All of this near a window with a view of the snowy mountain, simply charming. Chloé even admitted to us that this is one of the reasons why she will continue, part-time, with the team after her internship is over: “laughing like this with your colleagues, it’s precious!”
So, as there is no routine in Chloé’s schedule, she suggests that we read an article written by her that appeared in the newspaper of the city of Sutton Le Tour last November 24. This way, it will be easier to picture one of her main tasks: writing. “I am very lucky that my team trusts me so much and gives me such great projects. In my opinion, this is the best way to learn!”

The Mont SUTTON approach
In Sutton, at the top of Maple Street, there is a ski resort that has been hiring local people for over 60 years. It now offers four seasons of activities, which means year-round jobs! Nature enthusiasts will enjoy working in landscapes that are as white as they are green. The glades and the microclimate of Mont SUTTON are recognized far beyond Quebec! But there is another reason why the mountain is a popular destination: its employees!
Meeting the community
Over the years, Mont SUTTON has taken the time to invest in its community and to build relationships of trust and mutual aid with the neighboring towns. The kiosk of the human resources team was even seen at the Sutton Market and at the Massey-Vanier High School in Cowansville. The team informed the young and the elders about the advantages of working at Mont SUTTON. Moreover, Mont SUTTON is proud to accompany the young people in their debut on the job market to propel them in their future career. With the help of work-study programs, young people are given a gateway to an out of the ordinary professional world.. The fact that the station also hires several retirees ensures a sharing of experience between generations, which adds to the pleasure of working here. Spread the word!
The key word: flexibility
With its training adapted to the mechanical operations, its flexible time slots at the ticket office and its competitive salaries at the restaurant, Mont SUTTON wants to provide a positive work environment to its employees. Moreover, there is the possibility to combine two different jobs, full or part-time, in the comfort of the chalet or directly on the slopes. No effort is spared to support the teams on the mountain. And what could be better than to be the first to know about the latest news and to take advantage of it whenever possible to go on the slopes!
A feeling of belonging
At Mont SUTTON, a simple “job” does not exist. Each individual counts and contributes to the smooth running of the operations. Therefore, mutual aid is at the heart of the values of this tourist site. There will always be an experienced employee to accompany the recruits, no matter what the task. Not to mention that there is the possibility to evolve within the organization. Whether it’s for a career, a student job or a retirement project, there is something for everyone.
Even as an intern, working at Mont SUTTON is really being part of a big family. We are still looking to adopt; bring us your CV!
