What is the Mackenzie Top Peak Contest?

Mackenzie Top Peak is a national competition and a call to action for ski communities across Canada to mobilize and demonstrate their sportsmanship for the chance to be recognized as ”Canada’s most invested ski community”.

Ski communities from across Canada must submit an application outlining the projects they wish to achieve with the grand prize and mobilize to collect maximum points through public voting and by doing various challenges that demonstrate their sportsmanship. From these entries, the 10 communities with the most points go on to the semi-finals. So here we are!

People now have until March 3 to vote for the Sutton Ski Club and make them reach the Top 3, unveiled on CBS Sports on Saturday March 9 at 6 p.m. Then, a jury will select the winning team according to the number of votes received, but especially according to the overall presentation of their application.

What are the objectives of the Sutton Ski Club?

With this significant sum the Sutton Ski Club wants to implement 3 major projects.

1. The club’s athletes travel a lot for competitions, among other things, which generates greenhouse gases. Part of the money will therefore be used to offset greenhouse gas emissions through planetair.ca.

2. Most of the money will be used to renovate the Bunker (Chalet Alt. 520 m). The chalet has not been used for years and the club wants to breathe new life into it and make its restaurant up and running again.

3. Finally, a portion of the amount will be directed towards the creation of an equipment stock to provide for young people in the Sutton area who wish to learn skiing.

For more detailed information on the distribution of the money, we invite you to consult the official application of the club here.
