Mont SUTTON is fortunate to have a team of indefatigable ski enthusiasts who contribute to its renown. We’re proud of our highly appreciated employees, including 87-year-old Claude Gagnon, still on the slopes as an instructor! Below is an article from Espaces magazine, taken from Mr. Gagnon’s interview with FADOQ.

Nestled in the heart of the Eastern Townships, the Mont Sutton is renowned for its warm atmosphere, natural glades and enchanting scenery. But the Eastern Townships resort also hides another treasure: 87-year-old Claude Gagnon embodies the timeless passion of downhill skiing.

An enthusiast since childhood, the octogenarian still skis every winter, but also teaches, and has done since 1969, when he became a member of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.

A dedicated instructor, he continues to teach with enthusiasm, sharing his love of skiing with skiers of all ages.

As he explains on the FADOQ website (the Quebec network representing people aged 50 and over): “It keeps me young and keeps me moving, because young people move a lot!” For Claude Gagnon, skiing is much more than just a leisure activity; it’s a source of vitality and well-being, helping him to avoid illness: “If you sit for too long, you end up with sore legs.To avoid that, you have to move around. I recently caught a cold, but I hadn’t had one for six years.”

He also shares his little secret for staying healthy: diet! “I eat little meat, almost no dessert and no sugar. I prefer vegetables and I keep an active lifestyle.

A life story that shows us that the love of skiing can cross generations and decades!
