Host of new features announced for the winter at Mont SUTTON
To help you wait for the first snowfalls, we’re unveiling a slew of new features for the opening of the next season at Mont SUTTON!
Incomparable snow production, improved accessibility and modernized grooming, everything will be in place for an enhanced experience next winter.
First of all, work to modernize the snowmaking system is continuing and will be completed in just a few weeks! The installation of the new pumps concludes the optimization of pumping capacity and the improvement of the network for more efficient snowmaking. From now on, cold-weather production will be maximized by doubling the volume of snowmaking, resulting in greater and faster snow coverage, accelerating the access to the slopes!
To go hand in hand with this new high-performance system, six 10′ snow lances will be added to the equipment fleet, enabling superior snow production depending outside temperatures. Investments in the effort to maximize snow production have also been made with the addition of two state-of-the-art portable cannons. Among the most advanced in their class, these guns feature a unique nucleator that effectively fights the wind and adapts to any situation!
The addition of two 25′ poles, one at the base of chairlift II for increased coverage range, and one 18′ pole to improve snow uniformity during defrost and rainy days, will also bring a much more consistent snow production. Finally, two new fans will be on trial this season, allowing the operations team to compare and test the best equipment on the market regarding future upgrades!
To best suits your needs, Mont SUTTON is delighted to inaugurate a new boarding carpet on chairlift IV at the start of the 2023-2024 season! This addition will make boarding more comfortable, while allowing the chairlift to operate more efficiently. More safety, more comfort for more fun on the slopes!
As for grooming, a grant from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), through the Association des stations de ski du Québec (ASSQ), has enabled several stations, including Mont SUTTON, to acquire a new, more efficient and high-performance groomer to improve the quality of the work performed by the field crew.
These upgrades promise to give skiers and snowboarders better riding conditions! With the scope of these changes, everything is already in place for a long and beautiful ski season to please enthusiasts!
Overall, investments for the season reached 2.2 million! That’s how far we’ve come…
We can’t wait either, but don’t worry, cold weather will soon allow you to see directly the effect of these major improvements! In the meantime, visit us during the Fall Festival, Saturdays and Sundays until October 15, and on Monday October 9 for Thanksgiving, to get a (very) close-up look at some of this new equipment, on display at the foot of the slopes for the event. A rare opportunity to appreciate these imposing instruments!
