Special edition of Sutton en Blues
SUTTON, October 5th, 2021 – Following this long Thanksgiving weekend which will indeed be rich in colors and activities, Mont SUTTON has some excellent news. In spite of the restrictions linked to the pandemic, they will not prevent the presentation of an exceptional edition of Sutton en Blues in 2021. Although the formula will be shortened in terms of shows and capacities, on October 16th, les Productions Kazou and Mont SUTTON will unite their efforts to present what will be a unique and memorable evening for all blues fans. An evening with none other than Annika Chambers!
A star will shine on Mont SUTTON
A testament to her passion and talent as a powerful vocal artist, she traces the origins of her love of music to her earliest childhood. “I grew up singing in church,” she says. Citing the gospel influences of Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Dottie Peoples and Whitney Houston, one can’t help but feel the Spirit present throughout the room when Annika throws herself body and soul into a song.
Her powerful and unique voice, which some compare to the great Aretha Franklin, has earned her the title of Best Soul Blues Singer at the 2019 Blues Music Awards as well as the Living Blues Award for Best Album in 2020 for her album Southern Soul.
Strong ties to Quebec
In 2018, at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, she met elite Montreal guitarist Paul Deslauriers. It was an electroshock, because soon after they will unite not only their artistic destiny, but also their life destiny to the great joy of all those who have the chance to see them on stage. Paul’s latest album “Bounce” debuted at #1 on the Roots Music Report chart.
Jean Sicotte, the producer and organizer of Sutton en Blues shares that: “These are people I’ve known for a long time and we’re lucky to have them coming to Sutton! The Houston, Texas native has often received great recognition in her field. You’ll see she has a voice…how can I put it…a voice that will blow you away. It will be an extraordinary show. In addition, they will be accompanied on stage for the occasion by excellent musicians, Alec McElcheran on bass and Bernard “Bingo” Deslauriers on drums. We are spoiled to have Annika, Paul and co. partying with us at Mont SUTTON. I can’t wait!”
