SUTTON HERITAGE TOURS

Three fascinating heritage tours start in Sutton allowing you to discover a little of the rich history of the Eastern Townships. Pick up a combined guide and map at the Sutton Tourist Office.

 

  • Village Circuit
    This 4 km walking tour allows you to discover the charm, history and architecture of Sutton. First settled by Loyalists in 1802, the route is marked by 16 interpretive panels. Allow about an hour, or a little more, to discover the richness of the community and its heritage.

 

  • Rural Circuit 
    The 33 km circuit links 10 sites in Sutton and Abercorn including important historical buildings such as the McClarty homestead, built in 1842 by Irish pioneers. Ideal for cyclists or drivers, take the time to stop at the interpretive panels and the numerous panoramic viewpoints.

 

  • Churches and Cemetery Circuit
    Visit  the churches and cemeteries where the pioneers and founders of Sutton and district worshipped and were laid to rest. The entire tour, consisting of 2 loops (45 kilometers and 54 kilometers), takes you through some of the most picturesque countryside we have to offer.
