Upcoming opening of the mountain biking trails at Mont SUTTON

By  - Category: Press Release - Published on

SUTTON, April 27, 2023Mont SUTTON and the non-profit organization Plein air Sutton/Mtb have come a long way since the first mountain biking season in the summer of 2017: continuous improvement of the trails, more and more kilometers to ride, addition of equipment to the chairlift to allow the ascent with a bike, rental service of double suspension bikes and electric bikes, lessons, store of sports articles and clothing, repair and maintenance shop, without forgetting a restaurant service at the foot of the trails.

So it is with great pleasure that Mont SUTTON announces the upcoming opening, scheduled for Saturday May 20, of its 44 km and 35 mountain biking trails thanks to the dedication of Plein Air Sutton/Mtb team working hard to prepare the ground!

A spring clean up day announcing the start of the season

Just before the official opening of the trails, it is important to remind the population to respect the temporary closure for safety reasons and to allow everyone to properly prepare the space! In order to launch the season, enthusiasts are invited to mobilize on Saturday, May 13 for a day of work on the trails to finalize the preparation. Postponed to Sunday, May 14 in case of bad weather, this annual clean up ”chore” from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. is meant to be festive and unifying as it announces the imminent start of the season. There will be many participation prizes and surprises during the 4 to 6 following the event. Online registration is mandatory before Thursday, May 11 and all details are on the Facebook event at bit.ly/corveevelo2023 (french only).

What’s new the greatest pleasure of all

Starting Saturday May 20, the 44 km and 35 trails of Mont SUTTON will be open to everyone! That said, a new trail quite difficult, Fischer-moi la paix, should be inaugurated this spring. This 1.5 km trail, designed in collaboration with Sentiers de l’Est in the summer of 2022, takes its name from an old pair of Fischer skis found during the construction. A short technical section at the start quickly turns into a flowing surface that provides space to enjoy the backcountry with a variety of maneuvers.

Two other trails, to be built jointly with Plein Air Sutton/Mtb’s team of planners, volunteers and experts, should add 2 to 3 km of intermediate and expert level trails to the mountain biking offer for this upcoming season. These three new trails represent an investment of $85,000, bringing to more than $1 million the investments in the mountain biking network at Mont SUTTON since 2017. And it is still a beginning!

Another new feature, especially made to answer the growing demand of the amateurs, is the Enduro add-on possible for the holders of a season pass to allow one chairlift ride per day. An offer designed to vary the practice that does not mean a shift towards a destination focused on downhill mountain biking. Nature is still at the heart of the experience, and the desire, although it is to extend the day on the trails, also remains to limit the number of people at the top to preserve the condition of the trails in the long term. This new offer allows the users to connect at their own pace with the environment, for a Purely SUTTON moment!

Special events for all the fans of this sport are also on the schedule this summer. For example, on July 16, Mont SUTTON will host the Marin Wild Side Enduro bike race, while on August 23rd, the traditional MS Bike Challenge will be held for the benefit of multiple sclerosis research.

Only few days left to benefit the presale

Moreover, mountain biking lovers have until Sunday April 30 to benefit a 10% discount on the Mont SUTTON season pass. The discount is also valid on the Enduro add-on The passes will then be offered at full price for the rest of the season. Until this Sunday, the adult mountain biking pass is offered at $166.50 instead of $185 and the Enduro add-on at $117 instead of $130.

Other summer activities coming at the mountain

Now a four seasons destination, several activities are offered on summertime to perfect everyone’s stay. The mountain bike is the first activity of the season to open to the public at Mont SUTTON and from the same day, it will be possible to enjoy disc golf, a fun sport for young and old combining frisbee and golf in a wooded area. Will follow the start of the rustic camping at the summit on June 2nd, the openings of the giant zipline and the zipline coaster on June 23rd, and the beginning of the ascent for bikes or chairlift ride for pedestrians on June 23rd as well. At any time during the hikes, it will be possible to appreciate the open-air sculptures hidden on the mountain! More details will come. All informations at www.montsutton.com/en.
