OPENING TARGETED ON DECEMBER 1ST

 

SUTTON, November 21, 2023 – It’s official: the targeted opening date of Mont SUTTON is set on Friday, December 1st! The slopes have been cleaned, the equipment installed and the site is being prepared for the imminent start of the ski season at Mont SUTTON! Now that the work to upgrade the snowmaking system has been completed, this is the confirmation that everything is running like clockwork with the new pipes connected to the new pumping station!

 

 

Snowmaking started

 

The new pumping system and snowguns were tested by the snowmaking team on the weekend of November 12 and the results were unequivocal: the doubled production capacity is delivering the expected results, giving a much greater quantity and quality of snow. Never seen before at the mountain!

 

Arrival of cold weather allowed the snowmaking process to get underway last week. Aided by Mother Nature over the past weekend, the modernization of equipment is already resulting in greater and faster snow coverage!

 

 

Many maintenance operations performed

 

As several maintenance steps are mandatory to prepare an opening of the slopes for the winter season, the operation’s teams have already been at work for several months!

 

Not only the snowmaking team, but also the ground maintenance, chairlift maintenance, garage and building maintenance teams are hard at work to ensure the smooth running of the coming season, finalizing the last preparations to welcome skiers and snowboarders on the targeted date.

 

Among other things, the positioning of various equipment on site has been completed following pruning work, the chairlift platforms have been improved and reconditioned, several chairlift clamps have been changed as part of preventive maintenance work, the four-wheelers have been put on tracks and the checked groomers are ready to hit the slopes!

 

A reminder that total investments for the coming season reached 2.2 million for all mountain operation departments. This incredible modernization is already showing with the white carpet already covering the mountain!

 

 

A first weekend to come

 

With all this preparation progressing as planned and the new equipment in perfect working order, the first weekend of skiing is scheduled on Friday, December 1st, Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd! The mountain is then set to open for a second weekend on December 8, 9 and 10, to welcome skiers and snowboarders 7 days a week from December 15!
