Sutton, June 26, 2023 – As summer season is well-settled at Mont SUTTON with several attractions open to the public 7 days a week, some visitors may notice work in progress close to chairlift IV area, the mountain continuing to develop and improve its four-season offering for everyone’s enjoyment.

A four-season shift now secured

Mont SUTTON’s four-season orientation, which started with the creation of a mountain biking network in collaboration with Plein air Sutton / MTB, has been confirmed over the past two summers with openings of two unique ziplines and a wooded disc golf course for adventure and outdoor enthusiasts.

With the aim of continuously diversifying the offering, new features are also on the program for summer 2023, such as the Enduro add-on to mountain biking pass holders, which allows one chairlift ride per day for even more enjoyment, as well as three new mountain bike trails currently under construction. The first two of these trails, Fischer-moi la paix and Slab-Arnaque, were opened in early June and were thought for experienced mountain bikers.

Other objective of the current development phase, the summer of 2023 will mark the growth of the open-air Museum with the addition of two new artworks, bringing to ten the number of sculptures present at Mont SUTTON, thanks to the collaboration of the organization Les Arts à la montagne. This summer, La Musique des oiseaux and L’écureuil will enhance a visit at the mountain, marrying culture and nature, by showcasing the talent of Sutton and Brome-Missisquois artists! It’s a great way to expose local natural resources, all pieces depicting elements of flora and fauna!

At any time, Mont SUTTON’s visitors can enjoy a different view of the slopes and glades in summer and access these pieces of art by hiking the mountain or taking a chairlift ride, appreciating even more this way the beauty of the landscape. If the chairlift ride is the starting point for a great hike, a stop at the lookout located a few steps away on the Alleghanys trail is a must! This free excursion provides access to an exceptional picture of the region, culminating in several breathtaking views from the summit. A promise of wonder for younger and older!

Work underway to upgrade next winter season

Skiers will not be outdone this summer, as they can already be excited about the next season with the work on the slopes planned this summer! By the end of the summer, the modernization of the snowmaking system will have been completed, with the optimization of pumping capacity guaranteeing the improvement of the network for a more efficient snowmaking, maximizing the production during cold periods for best skiing conditions!

And that’s not all! With the desire to satisfy always more skiers with improved and upgraded services, a new boarding carpet on chairlift IV will be inaugurated at the beginning of the 2023-2024 ski season! This addition will make boarding more comfortable, while allowing the chairlift to operate more efficiently. Finally, much to the delight of many snow sports enthusiasts, a new 90m bypass trail to link the Mohawk trail to chairlift IV will be available from the start of the season, facilitating access to the Alt. 840m summit sector, previously recommended only to seasoned skiers. There will be no more excuses not to be moved by the bucolic scenery at the summit!

Provincial support from the Ministère du Tourisme

All these investments, aimed at diversifying Mont SUTTON’s activities over four seasons while improving the ski offering, are made possible thanks to $1,625,700 from the Quebec government through Component 1 of the Programme de soutien aux stratégies de développement touristiques (PSSDT), which supports the enhancement of winter tourism.

Funding from the PSSDT also includes the creation of recreational and hebertism trails, as well as a signature lookout at 700m altitude, to be completed in the summer of 2024. No matter, these projects are still at the heart of the Mont SUTTON offer!

Towards a Purely SUTTON destination

All these new features and work in progress are part of the second investment phase of Mont SUTTON’s master development plan, which began in 2020 and aims to make the ski resort a four-season outdoor destination in the Eastern Townships; a Purely SUTTON destination, in symbiosis with nature. By the end of this phase, more than $11 million will have been invested at the mountain since the master plan was launched.

Until future projects are announced, summer is well underway at Mont SUTTON, and everyone can already take advantage of a tempting summer offering that includes 37 mountain bike trails, an 18-baskets disc golf course, rustic camping at the summit, a chairlift ride, a giant zipline – the most inclined in Canada – and a zipline coaster in wooded area, the only one of its kind in North America. It should be noted that this is the first season to offer such a vast array of activities from the outset, meeting the expectations of all publics, and that the team in place is working tirelessly to continuously improve the customer experience!
