While summer season is about to kick off at Mont SUTTON, with the opening on Saturday, May 16, of the Plein air Sutton / MTB mountain bike trail network and the disc golf course, the season will really get underway on Saturday, June 20, with the opening of the chairlift and the giant zipline. What is sure to grab everyone’s attention at this season launch is undoubtedly the launch of our brand-new family attraction: an immersive adventure path set in the heart of nature near the top of Chairlift II, designed as an active course featuring various modules.
An original, 100% Quebec-made course by PXP
Designed as an active, sensory, and truly unique experience, this one-of-a-kind course created specifically for the mountain promises to redefine the hike — following a chairlift ride to make the most of it — by adding elements of play, discovery, and personal challenge.
Developed from original concepts by Quebec company PXP – Integrated Design, which specializes in creating experiences that connect people to places and bring meaning to spaces, this next-generation path integrates harmoniously into Mont SUTTON’s natural environment.
Through several themed sectors, rocky areas, wooded spaces, and spectacular viewpoints, visitors will be invited to explore a series of interactive modules featuring 15 stations designed to stimulate both body and imagination. Balance beams, logs, tunnels, a suspension bridge, ladders, a panoramic swing, unusual viewing scopes, and artistic installations will all be part of this adventure where observing, listening, and moving become the guiding principles of the experience.
This distinctive course, designed for all ages, offers a new way to discover the mountain by revealing its landscapes, topography, and natural secrets from a fresh perspective. Combining accessible physical challenges, family fun, and wonder, this new playful trail is set to become the perfect complement to the panoramic chairlift ride. Several route options will be available depending on the desired level of physical difficulty. Everyone will find enjoyment and outdoor fun!
The official inauguration of this adventure path will take place on Saturday, June 20, as part of the mountain’s summer season launch party. The date should definitely be marked on the calendar without delay.
Major new events this summer
In addition, new events will take place on the mountain this summer, beginning with Ultra Obscura, a new adventure race by Sinister Sports, the undisputed leader in trail racing. This unique 24-hour event will take place on June 13 and 14 and will cross the trails of Mont SUTTON, Parc d’Environnement Naturel de Sutton, and Plein air Sutton.
Another highly anticipated addition for mountain biking enthusiasts will undoubtedly be the only Quebec stop of the Into the Gnar tour, an immersive mountain biking coaching experience presented in collaboration with Devinci. This 3-day event will take place from July 10 to 12 and feature internationally renowned coaches Yoann Barelli and Nate Spitz.
Among the returning events this season are the Inferno Trail Sutton race (Saturday, May 9), MTB Fridays with chairlift extension until 8 p.m. (starting July 3), the return of the MS Mountain Challenge (August 29) benefiting MS Canada in the fight against multiple sclerosis, and the 3rd edition of the Trail du Mont SUTTON (October 3) organized by Série Trails Québec during the popular Fall Festival, which will run on weekends from September 19 to October 18.
An increasingly sought-after offering
Beyond these special events, the mountain’s many summer activities will naturally return, beginning with the highly popular Camping at the Summit, where 21 campsites and 2 rustic shelters (lean-to) will welcome the season’s first visitors starting Saturday, May 30. Online reservations are already open, and some dates are expected to fill quickly, particularly for the Perseids meteor shower night on Wednesday, August 12! Visitors will once again be able to camp at the summit by reserving their chairlift ride for easier ascent and ordering a summit meal package for a hearty dinner delivered for cooking on communal fire rings, available through Sunday, October 18!
Meanwhile, the Plein air Sutton / MTB mountain biking trail network at Mont SUTTON will open on Saturday, May 16, and already promises countless activities for a summer of nonstop riding. Mountain bike rentals, all-inclusive introductory sessions, and guided rides to maximize enjoyment on the trails will also be available. At the same time, the 18-basket wooded area disc golf course will also open, with revitalization work planned during the season. Visitors will once again be able to book disc golf clinics with professional Julien Quenneville to learn the fundamentals of this growing sport, improve technique, or even develop a more competitive approach.
Starting Saturday, June 20, as a official season launch party will unfold including another VR Expo Day, visitors will be able to enjoy Chairlift rides (for pedestrians or lift rides with a MTB), the Giant zipline, the steepest in Canada, dine at the Cube-IK outdoor restaurant at the foot of the slopes, and fully experience everything the mountain has to offer during the summer!
Minimal impact from new chairlift installation work
And while many visitors will notice ongoing construction for the new quad chairlift, impacts on summer events and especially on mountain biking trails will be minimal: no construction on weekends or public holidays – ensuring everyone can fully enjoy the summer season!
