65 years of passion, 10 years of investment,

and a promising future

SUTTON, March 3, 2026 – For 65 years now, Mont SUTTON has welcomed young and old alike for magical moments on its slopes, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Enthusiasts, mountain lovers, nostalgics and festive spirits are invited to gather at the mountain this Saturday, March 7, for a Retro Day that will take everyone on a journey between fond memories and a promising future!

A Rich History

Although Mont SUTTON began as the ambitious project of 32-year-old Réal Boulanger, it developed remarkably to become a major ski resort in Québec.

From the family’s purchase of 3,000 acres of steep land, a 230-acre playground featuring 460 metres of vertical drop emerged. When it opened on December 17, 1960, the station offered four groomed trails and two lifts (a chairlift and a T-bar), along with a basic chalet and a ski school. By the early 1970s, it had expanded to around twenty trails, and a major expansion in the 1990s eventually led to today’s offering of 60 slopes, 204 junctions, and 10 lifts, in addition to a four-season tourism experience.

A Mountain Looking to the Future

Ten years ago, a new chapter was written with the acquisition of the mountain by the Ryan-Gervais-Chesnay group. At the time, it was one of the last mountains still owned by its original owners, the Boulanger family.

The past decade has been marked by an ambitious vision, significant structural investments, and a clear intention: to develop a true four-season mountain resort while renewing infrastructure without altering the institution’s soul and distinctly “Purely SUTTON” character. Improvements to facilities, enhancements to the guest experience, renewal of operational equipment, development and promotion of four-season activities (mountain biking, disc golf, ziplining, summit camping…), and numerous sustainable investments have totalled more than $12 million invested in the mountain. Every decision has been guided by the desire to preserve what makes Mont SUTTON profoundly unique.

In 2026, the mountain is more vibrant than ever and continues to enthusiastically improve its services. A tangible sign? The largest investment in its history is on the horizon, with the arrival next winter of a new quad chairlift in the west sector. This major project (valued at over $8 million on its own) will enhance the guest experience, renew and modernize the terrain, while maintaining the mountain’s natural balance and the diversity of its offerings. Upon completion, more than $22 million will have been invested in the mountain over the past 10 years.

Celebrating Memories This Saturday, March 7

To mark 65 winter seasons while looking ahead to a future already well underway with several seasons of major investments, a Retro Day will take place on Saturday, March 7, featuring a guaranteed festive atmosphere.

A retro-inspired photo booth will be set up on-site to recreate the spirit of the mountain’s early years. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest vintage attire and bring along season passes, club pins, and other memorabilia to share their memories.

Throughout the day, there will be prize draws, as well as a contest for the best retro outfit for those interested. A Burton snowboard demo will also be held at the same time for even more fun at the foot of the slopes. On the après-ski, there will be tastings for participants of legal drinking age, and DJ Raffo will be on hand to provide a festive retro atmosphere!

Two contests are also being held online and on social media to make the day even more exceptional. Prizes include a $200 gift card to recreate a vintage photo, or THREE rides in the famous Sno-Cat Tucker on Saturday, March 7, driven by Luc Boulanger, son of founder Réal Boulanger! Registration must be completed quickly…

Without a doubt, March 7 will be a day not to miss!
