To reserve your spot at the Snow School, call us at 1-866-538-2545 (option 2), send us your sign-up sheet by email to or by fax to 450-538-9902 or visit the online store. At the moment of your reservation, one of our representatives will inform you of the remaining availabilities in your desired options and we require payment in full in order to finalize your inscription. Due to the high demand for certain programs and certain time slots, no reservation can be made without payment in full of the value of the course.

There are usually two sign-up periods: April to mid-May & September to the end of December. Spaces will be filled according to the order in which we receive reservations: hurry, spaces are limited!

If a program or time slot is no longer available at the time of your request, it will be possible to add your name to a waitlist, which only guarantees a space if another one is given up. We encourage you to select another option or time slot to ensure your participation in our weekend programs.

Program description

The training program is aimed at teenagers 13, 14 or older who are interested in becoming ski or snowboard instructors. It is an intensive program where they will have the opportunity to learn new teaching abilities and watch others in action through an observation internship. The apprentice must be available on Saturdays and Sundays from January 15 to March 13, 2022, because the training course and the observation internship will not be on the same day.

Training sessions

We offer 9 training sessions led by one of our most experienced, level 3 or 4 instructors. During this time, the apprentice-instructor will learn the basics of teaching ski lessons, communicating, interacting with children, customer service, and will have the opportunity to improve his or her technique. The training sessions are planned during a fixed schedule, either on Saturday mornings or Sunday mornings, depending on the availability upon registration.

Observation internships

The apprentice will have to participate in a minimum of 5 observation internships during the nine weeks of the program. They will be assigned precise times and dates at which to complete these internships (please note that the internships will not be on the same days as the training sessions). Two of these internships will be with the Little Scouts Club, two with the Explorers program, and one with the All-Terrain Club. At the end of the ski season, the apprentice-instructor will receive a per diem compensation corresponding to $10 for every observation internship completed, up to a maximum of 5 internships. The per diem will be issued as a SUTTON gift card.

Ski ticket

Ski access is not included in the price of the weekend programs. If you are not a Mont SUTTON season’s passholder, you must purchase tickets valid for the duration of your lesson. The School Card is an advantageous option that must be purchased before the start of the program. For those who choose the 9-ticket School Card, the Snow School will provide the remaining 5 tickets needed for the five observation internships.

What next (career)

The apprentice-instructor program does not guarantee employment or the obtainment of level 1 certification at the Ski Instructors Association. It does however offer the opportunity for considerable improvement and advancement to those who wish to become instructors and who do not have any teaching experience.
