Another ski season is now over… to give way to many summer activities at Mont SUTTON
SUTTON, April 25, 2019 – The ski season is now over and Mont SUTTON can be thankful for a very beautiful 2018-2019 season! Key facts of the 2018-2019 season: the earliest opening in the last 10 years, on November 24th; 100% of ski trails opened on December 1st; a record number of snowfalls of 15 cm or more as well as 566 cm of cumulative snow at the base and 714 cm at the top, best since 2010-2011. The station has even extended the season and was the only one in the Eastern Townships to offer skiing during Easter weekend, particularly late this year. And the summer of 2019 promises to be just as fun-filled at Mont SUTTON! There will be many activities for outdoor lovers, families, as well as challenge seekers!
Mountain Biking
Plein air Sutton / MTB, a non-profit organization, in partnership with Mont SUTTON, will offer for the 3rd consecutive year, cross-country single track and double track mountain biking trails for all skill levels. Fatbikes and mountain bikes will be available for rental at the Boutique Expérience SUTTON. Mountain bike enthusiasts are invited to stay tuned for the demos that will take place during this summer at the foot of the ski trails!
Rustic Camping at the Summit
Nature lovers can surround themselves with nature and spend a night, or more, at the top of Mont SUTTON in their tent, in a shelter or in a dormitory at Chalet Alt. 840 m. The experience of waking up to a striking view of the Eastern Townships’ landscape is memorable!
The Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton also allows hikers to discover over 52 km of hiking trails for every skill level directly on Sutton mountains massif.
Must-See Classics
Summer classics will of course be back in 2019. The Xman Race, an obstacle race with more than forty military type obstacles, will take place on June 1st. The Valhalla Race, on June 8th, is a quest where participants must overcome, as a team, 25 obstacles or riddles requiring action and thought. The Xtrail Race, one of the top 10 trail races in Canada, will take place on June 15th with different race courses that can please amateur runners, athletes and even children!
Like every summer, the Federation of Swiss Societies of Eastern Canada Inc. organizes the most important National Swiss Day after the one celebrated in Swiss at Mont SUTTON. This year, the 43rd edition will take place on August 3rd. It’s the ideal place to discover the Swiss culture in a festive outdoor atmosphere.
A pleasant summer in perspective… with even more activities to come in the destination!
