Mont SUTTON is proud to support the Sutton Ski Club in its participation in the Mackenzie Top Peak Contest with the goal of winning a $100,000 grand prize to complete several projects that will benefit the Sutton ski community, the young racers and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What is the Mackenzie Top Peak<\/i> Contest?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mackenzie Top Peak is a national competition and a call to action for ski communities across Canada to mobilize and demonstrate their sportsmanship for the chance to be recognized as Canada’s most invested ski community.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The various participating summits have from January 8 to March 3 to demonstrate how they stand out and <\/span>why they deserve to take the first step of the podium and get their hands on the $100,000 grand prize that will allow them to invest in the cause(s) of their choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once the current nomination phase is completed, only the top 10 will advance to the semi-final. Then, from February 11 to March 3, Canadians will be able to select the three finalists in a 2nd voting phase. A panel of judges will then select the winning team from the three finalists, based on the presentation of their application, the points earned and their creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What are the objectives of the Sutton Ski Club?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

With this significant sum the Sutton Ski Club wants to implement 3 major projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. The club’s athletes travel a lot for competitions, among other things, which generates greenhouse gases. Part of the money will therefore be used to offset greenhouse gas emissions through planetair.ca.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. Most of the money will be used to renovate the Bunker (Chalet 520). The chalet has not been used for years and is in poor condition. The club wants to breathe new life into this chalet, which is very popular with racers, and get its restaurant up and running again.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. Finally, a portion of the amount will be directed towards the creation of a bank of equipment to provide to young people in the Sutton area who wish to learn to ski.<\/span><\/p>\n
