History
The Club is affiliated with the Zone de ski de l'Estrie, Ski Quebec Alpine and the Canadian Ski Association. The Mont SUTTON Competition Ski Club sees to the organisation and management of any regional, Provincial and National races hosted at Mont SUTTON. Competitions are organized only with the close co-operation of both Mont SUTTON and the ski patrol.

Club objectives
The Club’s goal is to develop competitive skiers, through elite training programs and training with Club coaches. The Club organises programs for skiers aged 7 and up. The main Club objective is to develop young skiers through training and participation in alpine competitions.

Specific objectives include the perfection of basic techniques, initiation to course racing as well as perfecting competitive level skills such that each age group is afforded the opportunity to participate in Regional, Provincial, National and International events.


Club program
Programs are designed to complement Ski School activities. Pre-season training sessions begin in early fall. New this year, among other things, in-line skating will be offered to youngsters interested in an enlightening experience!

Young athletes interested in joining the Club will be required to attend a qualifying camp. Camps are typically held in the spring around mid-March.

In-season basic training takes up 4 hours per week-end day (9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. or 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m., depending on the age), in addition to the Christmas camp. Typically the on-snow programs start in December and run through the end of March.

Methods used include the leaded ski periods, educative layouts, gate training, video detect and correct technical session, as well as sessions on ski preparation and maintenance.

In addition to the development of technical skills, participation in club activities encourages the development of team spirit, cooperation and camaraderie.
