Camping at the top of the mountain

From June 02 2018 to October 28 2018

Surround yourself with nature and spend a night right at the top of Mont SUTTON. Choose between a night stay in a tent, in a shelter or in a dormitory at chalet alt. 840 m. Wake up with a striking view on the beauty of the Eastern Townships landscape.

In fall and summer, Mont SUTTON’s alt. 840 m chalet becomes a hikers’ dorm and is open every weekend (or upon reservation on weekdays for groups only). There are beds that can accommodate a maximum of 20 people. There’s also a shared kitchen to make simple meals. Enjoy its panoramic dining room, central indoor fireplace and vast gallery with a stunning view on mount Pinacle, St-Lawrence’s plains, the Monteregian Hills and sunsets.

Campsites, shelters and dormitories are at the summit, alt. 840 m, at about 1:30 of walking distance from the main chalet (alt. 400 m) and about one hour of walking distance from Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton’s reception (alt. 520 m). The sites are only accessible by foot.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The chalet is open every weekend, from June 2 to October 28. It can also be used on weekdays, but only when booked. Shelters and campsites are usable from June 2 to October 28.

The chalet includes twenty beds, a community kitchen, a panoramic dining room including a central fireplace and a vast gallery. Compost toilets are in an adjacent building. There are no showers.

The toilets and the panoramic gallery of chalet alt. 840 m are accessible at all times by all users. When the chalet is open, its kitchen and dining room are also accessible for all users, including campers and hikers.

Drinkable water is carried up each week by chairlift. It is accessible to all in containers stored at the entrance of the chalet. Thank you for not wasting any of it, it is limited and it requires efforts to bring it to the summit.

The community campfires and community BBQ are close to the chalet and are the only places where you are allowed to light a fire. The guardian is responsible for the wood stock. He respects the SOPFEU grade. Take a look on the SOPFEU‘s intensity map before your visit.

On-leash dogs are allowed on campsites and in the shelters. However, out of respect for users of the chalet, we ask you not to enter it with your dog.

Thank you for not feeding wild animals, for their well-being and your safety!
