Enjoy a great hike to reach our camping located at the top of Mont SUTTON’s ski trails.  Surround yourself with nature and spend the night in one of our shelters or in your tent on one of our campsites. Wake up with a striking view on the beauty of the Eastern Townships landscape!

 

Campsites and shelters are at the summit alt. 840 m, at about 1 hour and a half of uphill walking distance from the main chalet (alt. 400 m), 45 minutes from the summit of chairlift II if you enjoy the chairlift ride (take note of the cost and schedule), and about 1 hour of uphill walking distance from Chalet Alt. 520m on the « Miracle » ski trail, or again through the hiking trails of the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton’s which the online reservation for access are necessary.

CAMPSITES

 

Twenty-one campground sites are available close to Mont SUTTON’s highest chalet (alt. 840 m). The sites are all at the summit and are at a reasonable distance so you can have intimacy. Sites can accommodate 1 to 3 tents (the price presented is for 2 people per site, there is an extra fee for each additional person – up to a maximum of 6 people in total and 1 to 3 tents depending on the sites). Tent(s) not included, bring your own tent(s). The sites are only accessible by foot (1 to 1.5 hour of uphill walking distance).

 

RATES :

$49 /site /night for 2 persons

+ $10 per extra person (maximum of 4 to 6 people, depending on the campsite selected)

 

  • Sites 3, 7, 11, 15 to 21 : 1 tent maximum (up to 4 people)
  • Sites 12 and 13 : 1 to 2 tents (up to 6 people)
  • Sites 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 14 : 1 to 3 tents (up to 6 people)

SHELTERS

 

No need to set the tent! Two shelters are available for you if you don’t want to bring your tent all the way to the top. They can accommodate up to 6 people for the night, in each shelters. The shelters, built on a wooden platform, have three closed sides. The price for the shelter is the same whether you are 1, 2 or 6 people; in short, the shelter is private! One shelter is close to the Exil ski trail and the other one is close to the chalet. The shelters are only accessible by foot (1 to 1.5 hour of uphill walking distance).

 

New: By presenting yourself to the campground keeper, a mattress for each person will be provided! They are cleaned and disinfected between each camper.

FOOD DELIVERY AT THE SUMMIT

 

We are now offering nothing less than a camping menu that you can cook on the grill of our collective fire pits! Not just any menu, but a menu that will please the most discerning palate. It is necessary to reserve your food a minimum of 48 hours prior to your stay to guarantee its delivery to the summit.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

RULES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

By making a reservation for the rustic campground Alt. 840 m, you agree to abide by all the rules and regulations in force at the campground.

 

You can arrive from 12 noon or later and we ask you to leave by 11 a.m. at the latest. The campground keeper welcomes you
directly at the summit.

 

Minors (under 18 years old) have to be under the supervision of at least one responsible adult.

 

A curfew is in place from 11 p.m. Thank you for respecting other camper’s right to tranquility.

 

Ecological dry toilets are available at Chalet alt. 840 m at all times by all users.

 

Drinkable water is carried up each week by chairlift. It is accessible to all in containers stored at the entrance of the chalet. Thank you for not wasting it. It is limited and it requires effort to bring it to the summit. Note that there are no showers.

 

The designated campfire sites located near the chalet at the summit are the only places where fires are permitted and they are shared amongst all campers. For security reasons, it is strictly prohibited to start a fire elsewhere. The campground keeper is responsible for the wood. He respects the SOPFEU reports.

 

Leashed dogs are allowed on campsites and in the shelters.

 

Thank you for not feeding wild animals, for their well-being and your safety!

 

A fee of $150 will be charged for any onsite damage.

 

Please note that, access to the infrastructures of the Chalet Alt. 840 m are not authorized for the camping season. Only access to washrooms is possible.

HIKING & ACCESS TO THE CAMPGROUND

Is this your first visit? We recommend that you arrive before 3:45 pm to make your ascent in daylight, or if you choose to enjoy the chairlift ride ($), and to get recommendations or directions if necessary.

 

To get to the camping at the top of the mountain, here are 4 hiking options:

 

  1. From the main chalet of Mont SUTTON at altitude 400 m  (parking P2C, P3A ou P3B), start in front of the Boutique Expérience SUTTON and follow the signs to the campground. Plan around 1 hour and 30 minutes of walk to get to the campsite. See Mont SUTTON’s trails map here.
  2. With your ticket for the chairlift ride ($) : the day of your visit, park at altitude 400m (parking P2C, P3A or P3B), get your ticket for the ride with your reservation at the ticket office before 3:45 p.m. Board the chairlift II and once at the top of chairlift II, climb up the stairs behind the chalet Alt. 680m to the observatory point and follow your ascension on the Alleghanys trail for about 45 minutes all the way to the Chalet Alt. 840m where the camping guide is.
  3. Starting from Chalet Alt. 520m (Parking 5), take “Miracle” ski trail all the way to the summit of the ski trails at Chalet Alt.840m. Allow about one hour of hiking in ascent to get to the top of the ski trails.
  4. From the Parc d’environnement naturle de Sutton’s booth at 900 Chemin Réal, follow signs to Lac Spruce all the way to Lac Spruce, then follow signs towards Round Top until junction 775, then follow signs towards Mohawk until the next junction (830) and then make the final climb in the ski trail to the campground. Please note that online reservations are mandatory for access to the hiking trails of the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton, go to their website to reserve your tickets!

 

Hiking is free on the Mont SUTTON ski trails. Take the opportunity to admire the summer flora on the ski trails, the sculptures of local artists that adorn some of our trails and the magnificent viewpoints on the valley, including the one at the observation point with the mountain panel.

 

It is also possible to buy a ticket access to Lac Mohawk at Mont SUTTON’s ticket office but quantities are limited.

 

Otherwise, for access to the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton’s trails, reservation are mandatory. You need to reserve on their website for your tickets!

CANCELLATION AND DATE CHANGE POLICIES

It is the customer’s responsibility to contact the Reservation Center at 1-866-538-2545 option 0 to reschedule or change a reservation (within the time frames outlined in the policies below). Voice messages on the Reservation Center’s answering machine will be accepted.

 

Cancellation policies: A 50% penalty is applicable for a cancellation made within within 4 to 14 days of your reservation date. Three days or less before your reservation date, there will be no refund.

 

Date change policy: A change of date is possible without charge more than 3 days before your reservation. For example, for a reservation on Saturday, you can change your reservation date up to and including Wednesday. Three days or less before the date of your reservation, no change is possible. Only one (1) date change is allowed per reservation, once a change is made a 50% penalty is applicable for any subsequent modification.
